The Two-Round Rule 5 Draft will happen sometime in mid-December after the season. After the Season, you may reserve 30 people to keep safe on your team. The people that will remain safe on your team during the Rule 5 Draft are everyone on your 25-man Roster, and then you may select 5 other people from your 40-man roster to make unavailable to the Draft.
After all the players that will be a part of the 200-man draft are determined, the Rule 5 Draft will begin. The order will be in the opposite order of the final standings after the playoffs.
If you make a selection in the Rule 5 Draft, the player will be taken off the previous team. However, if a team makes a selection, that team that selected the player during the Rule 5 Draft must keep him on his 25-man active roster all season. You may waive the player at any time, and if the player is waived he will be offered back to the original team. Once a Rule 5 draftee spends an entire season on his new team's 25-man roster, his status goes back to normal and he may go to your inactive 40-man roster if you wish.
These picks will be allowed to be traded. You may choose to forfeit your selection if you don't see anyone you want, or anyone that will make your 25-man active roster. You must have room on your 40-man roster to participate.

After recieving several emails asking about the rule 5 draft and If we could expand the "protected" prospect portion of the rosters I decided I needed to clear a few things up.
A) The first rule 5 draft will be held after the amateur draft next summer. (The amateur draft will include all players in the 1st year player draft as well as as Minor leaguers that rose to prominence during the season).
B) In order to participate in the either the amateur draft you have to have open spots on your 40 man roster. And if you select anyone in the rule 5 then you MUST keep them on your 25 man roster(ESPN roster) for a year which means no trades.
C) as far as protected spaces go I have decided to add either 1 or 2 "protected" spots but how many depends on what you guys think. Would you rather have 6 or 7 total protected prospect spots.

I would be in favor of expanding it to seven protected spots.

7 spots it is. From Now on each team will have 7 protected spots in addition to the players on their 25 man rosters.
