Alright boys so here is another situational problem I have run into. I have an opinion on the matter but dont have anything to back it up with other than "its easier." So I want to put it to a vote and see what you think.
With regards to calling up and sending down MLB players. As the rules have said since Boston made them, sending down players means that player must first go through waivers(allowing him to be claimed by other teams) if he is currently playing in reality for a MLB team.
When you have an injury that forces some one to the DL you must either pick up a FA and release some one on your 40 Man roster or you can "call up" a player if you have a Major league player at that position in the 15 non "starters" on your 40 man roster.
My question is this... How do we want to handle what happens to the replacement when your starter comes off the DL? Does the replacement have to go through waivers just to go back down or can he bypass the waivers as it was an DL related call up?
For example lets say Ryan Braun gets hurt this season and I bring up Juan Rivera from my 40 man roster(this is an example and I know he isnt on my roster at all right now). Rivera plays well abut Braun comes off the DL and I want to send Rivera back down to my 40. Does he need to go through waivers (meaning I could lose him if one of you claim him) or can bypass waivers?
I personally lean towards players being able to bypass waivers in an DL related call up. I just think it is easier but i dont have a better reason than that.
What do yall think?

I say we bypass the waivers in this scenario. I would be for getting rid of waivers when it comes to call ups and send downs, but thats just me. If we release a player then thats a diff story.

I would be interested in getting rid of waivers all together as well. But we would have to have virtually everyone on board for that since it was a rule when we all joined.

Sounds good. Hopefully the rest of the league will chime in w thoughts. Also, what happened to TB Flyers and the guy we replaced him with?

Flyers asked to be removed and then his replacement was a kid who was available from 4-11pm. So he was not a fit.
Homeruns4ya responded to a thread I put on ESPN. He liked the league so I figured we can give him a chance.

I agree with the idea of getting rid of waivers all together. I also think a DL related call up should be able to bypass waivers because its a neccassary call up not just because its wanted. But thats me.

I think we should get rid of waivers all together unless it deals with the releasing of a player outright. If that's the case, then we should do it like the MLB, in which a claiming team takes on the whole players salary, with the team waiving them getting stuck with half of the salary

Agree with Houston. If they are on our 40 man salary and we call up or send down, no other team should have access to them. If they are released, thats a diff story. Wanna make a new Poll AAA?

Not nessesary. I would think people would read what has started and chime in. I am hoping people will just say on here that they dont like waivers.
Maybe I am wrong and we need a new poll but I think its hard enough to get people to start reading one of these. Now that this thread has some momentum I would like to see how far it carries us.

Yeah I would think it would make things a little simpler to do away with waivers

Please vote in the poll and express your opinion about the waiver system in general. Do you want to keep the waiver system currently in place or get rid of them.
So far I have heard from 7, IE half the league. I would like to get at least 10 people saying they want to do away with the waiver system before I actually through it away.

Since it seems of the people who responded, everyone was for getting rid of the Waivers then we will dispose of the waiver process to send someone down.

After thinking about it alittle more I dont feel comfortable leaving it completely open for call ups and send downs.
Because if you can call up and send down at anytime then its just like having a 20 man bench.
So how about this You may send down each player ONLY 1 time before the all star break and once after the break.
That way you wont send down and call up as regularly.
How does that sound.
